Q

What lead to a slower adaptation of this approach in the USA?

A

There is more history of conflict between psychological and biological models of schizophrenia than which may have lead to slower adaption of an interactionist approach.
The basis of this is Turkingtion et al who suggested it is possible to believe in both a biological cause but treat it with CBT to relieve psychological symptoms provided you adopt an interactionist approach
