AMT 2101 Flashcards
It was produced in 1800 by Italian physicist Alessandro Volta.
DC Voltage
It was the Italian physicist who produced DC Voltage in 1800
Alessandro Volta.
It is used to change the voltage from a low to a high level of current.
Transformer
It’s a voltage or current that changes polarity or direction, respectively, over time.
Alternating Current (AC)
It’s a voltage or current that maintains constant polarity or direction, respectively, over time.
Direct Current (DC)
The conversion of alternating to direct current is accomplished by a circuit referred to as ____?
Rectifier
There is an effect of electromagnetism known as ____?
Mutual Induction
On the ground external AC power and/or an _____ , usually providing AC.
APU
What Does VRLA stand for?
Valve Regulator Lead Acid
If we have two mutually inductive coils and we energize one coil with AC, we will create an AC voltage in the other coil. When used as such, this device is known as a ____?
Transformer
Also known as flooded or wet batteries
Lead Acid Battery
What is the meaning of NiCd Battery?
Nickel Cadmium
What is the rate of discharging a battery?
1Hr
U.S.-manufactured lead-acid batteries are considered fully charged when the specific gravity reading is between ____ and _____?
1.277 and 1.300
The cut-off voltage is ____ volt per cell.
1.0
What is the standard DC voltage of an A320 aircraft?
28 DCV
What is the standard AC voltage of an A320 aircraft?
115 ACV
A portion of the electrons flow through each filament?
Parallel
It’s a machine constructed to rotate a magnetic field around a set of stationary wire coils with the turning of a shaft
AC Alternator
What is the 8 safety precautions in mind while working with electrical and ignition system
- Always wear safety glasses when working on any ignition system.
- When working on any ignition system when the engine is running, always keep your hands away from the spark plug wires. In addition, be careful not to drop any tools into the fan or pulleys on the front of the engine.
- Never use your hands to pull high-tension wires off the spark plugs when the engine is running. Use the correct spark plug wire pliers to remove a spark plug wire.
- When replacing parts or doing other work on the ignition system, always make sure the ignition system is off. If it is left on, a spark may be produced, causing gasoline fumes to ignite.
- Always use the correct tools when working on electronic and computerized ignition systems.
- When removing spark plug wires from any ignition system, be careful of the hot exhaust manifolds or the headers. Make sure the engine has cooled down before removing wires and spark plugs.
- If you are using a volt/ohmmeter to check resistances on an ignition system, make sure the circuit has been disconnected and the ignition system is off.
- When testing any ignition system, always follow the manufacturer’s suggested diagnosis and service procedure.
2 types of aircraft battery?
LEAD ACID ( Li - Cd ) and NICKEL CADMIUM ( Ni - Cd )
The same amount of current flows through all the components
SERIES
The current flowing through each component combines to form the current flow through the source.
PARALLEL
In an electrical circuit, components are arranged in a line
SERIES
In an electrical circuit, components are arranged parallel to each other
PARALLEL
When resistors are put in a series circuit, the voltage across each resistor is different even though the current flow is the same through all of them.
SERIES
When resistors are put in a parallel circuit, the voltage across each of the resistors is the same. And even the polarities are the same
PARALLEL
If one component breaks down, the whole circuit will burn out.
SERIES
Other components will function even if one component breaks down, each has its own independent circuit
PARALLEL
If Vt is the total voltage then it is equal to V1+V2+V3
SERIES
If Vt, is the total voltage then it is equal to V1=V2=V3
PARALLEL
DIFFERENCE OF PARALLEL AND SERIES
SERIES
