A

7 Years’ War

A

A war that lasted 7 years, in North American resulted in New France being claimed a British possession. Important because it drained a good part of England’s treasury which lead England to increase taxes because of new wars. It made America separate from Britain.

A

Boston Massacre

A

1n 1770 nervous British soldiers misunderstood an order (the commander tried to stop them) and fired their muskets into a mob of Boston protestors, killing several people. The British troops were everywhere around the unsettled Americans. It started with a snowball.

Taxes on Tea

A

Americans opposed and protested the tax so in 1773 the 50 sons of Liberty dressed as Mohawks and threw tea into the harbour to protest the act. This lead to the ships from Britain to be afraid that the tea they bring in would be thrown into the harbour as well.

A

1774, American patriots term for a sense of punitive laws passed by the British parliament after the Boston tea party. It was Britain’s response to the tea party.

A

1774, Quebec act was passed, made the conquered territory into a new Britain colony. Passed the law the colonists called the ‘intolerable acts’ It was also the second response to the tea party.

Loyalists

A

They were people who didn’t support the revolution and were strongly in favour of British rule.
They were persecuted by revolutionary patriots who also burned their homes and farms. They later colonized Ontario.
