- Virginia starts this riot primarily Patrick Henry and the House of Burgess, Their argument was “No Taxation without representation”; colonist had an idea of different representation in parlament: all members of Parlament represent England, colonies though of them as lawmakers for the town

court for people who smuggle (Vice-Admarality court) if a judge finds you guilty he gets paid twice and all the contents of the ship he gets part of it. Board of customs commissioners poke around looking for guilty people. troops send in cities and order to make sure mobs don’t get out of hand

- native americans- due to proclamation of 1773 (limit colonial immigration); exception of iriquoi confederacy(6 tribed) 4 of the tribes side with England 2 with colonist they loose power due to this
- African Americans- “enemy of my enemy is my friend”, british will give freedom of slaves of patriots “rebel masters”
