Legitimate

Natural Rights
A government based on the consent of the people.
Popular Sovereignty
The best known power of the supreme court.The ability of the court to declare a Legislative or Executive act in violation of the constitution.
Judicial Review
A form of government with roles and powers given, and limited by law, usually in a written constitution.Only has the powers that the people give it.
Limited Government
The three branches have some power to check the actions of another branch.
Checks and Balances
The legislative, executive, and judicial functions of government are divided among separate and independent branches. Under this system no one branch of government is in a position to become too powerful.
Separations of Powers
Rights that are god given and can never be taken or given away.Locke said, are “life, liberty, and property.
