Federalism
System of government written by the constitution that splits up the state government and the central governments to be able to share power.

The strength of Federalism is
The ability for both the Central government and the State governments being able to handle different issues in a timely fashion in which helpp them to be able to work together.
Delegated Powers
Those powers are granted to the Federal government under the united states constitution.
Reserved powers
Those whose power is reserved by a constitution, and federal law generally takes precedence over state laws, and state constitutions
Supremacy Clause
Article VI of the Constitution makes the Constitution, national laws, and treaties supreme over state laws when the national government is acting within its constitutional limits. Helps to establish a strong federal government.
How does the supremacy clause work
Judges in each state must follow the constitution, laws, and treaties of the federal government in matters which are directly or indirectly within the governments control.
Implied Powers
Powers are inferred from the express powers that allow Congress to carry out its functions.
Where are the Implied powers found
Article 1, section 8. necessary and proper clause
What are the implied powers also called?
Elastic Clause
Why are the implied powers important
They establish the constitutionality of the First Bank of the United States
Importance of McCulloch v. Maryland
it was used to defend Supremacy of National law and implied powers
