Which amendments are the most important ones?
Those that protect individuals against infringement of personal rights and liberties by the government.
The Bill of Rights
The first ten amendments to the Constitution are known as the Bill of Rights. They protect individuals against intrusion by the federal government.
E.g. the right to free speech, free religion, free press, etc.
The right to due process
It is established in the Bill of Rights. It secures the right to fair treatment through the normal judicial system
The reconstruction amendments
The Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution.
13: Prohibits slavery
14: Extends notions of due process to the states
15: Extended to black males the right to vote
