Amendment 1
No laws respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging free speech, or of press; or the right to people to peaceably assemble, and petition for redress of grievances
Amendment 2
Shall not infringe on a well regulated state Militia or the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
Amendment 3
No quartering soldiers in time of peace without consent of owner, and not during time of war but in manner prescribed by law.
Amendment 4
No unreasonable search and seizures, and no warrant issued without probable cause
Amendment 5
Right to due process of the law, no eminent domain without compensation, right to a grand jury, no double jeopardy, and no self-incrimination
Amendment 6
Right to a speedy and public trial
Amendment 7
The right to Trial by jury
Amendment 8
No cruel and unusual punishment, or excessive bail or fines imposed.
Amendment 9
There are other rights that may exist aside from the ones explicitly mentioned, and even though they are not listed, it does not mean they can be violated.
Amendment 10
The powers not given to the federal government nor prohibited to the states, are reserved for the states respectively, or to the people
Amendment 11
The states are shielded from suits brought by citizens of other states or foreign countries.
Amendment 12
The procedure for electing the President and Vice President. It replaced Article II, Section 1, Clause 3, which provided the original procedure by which the Electoral College functioned.
Amendment 13
Abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime.
Amendment 14
Addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws, and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War.
Amendment 15
Prohibits the federal and state governments from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen’s “race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”
