BASIC GAIT PATTERNS
-Four-Point Pattern
-Two-point Pattern
-Three -Point Pattern
-Modified four- point / two point-pattern
-Three-one Point / Modified Three -Point Pattern
Uses a simultaneous, reciprocal forward placement of the ambulation aid and the patient’s opposite lower extremity
-Two point pattern
Uses an alternate and reciprocal forward movement of the ambulation aid and the patient’s opposite lower extremity
-Four point pattern
The aid is held in the UE opposite to the affected lower extremity (good)
-Modified Four Point
Used when px is able to FWB on one lower extremity, but is NWB on the opposite LE
-Three-Point Pattern(NWB)
Requires bilateral use of ambulation aids or walker permit FWB on one lower extremity but only PWB on the other lower extremity
-Three-Point Pattern(PWB)
Assistive aid and the opposite lower extremity(foot) advance alternately
-Modified Four Point
Assistive aid and the opposite lower extremity(foot) advance simultaneously
-Modified Two Point
Cane positioned on R side of the chair; footed cane is placed to the front and side og the R armrest; standard cane hooked over the front portion of the armrest.
-Cane: Rise to stand
Approaches the chair and turns toward the chair, leading with the * UE until the *nearest to the chair
-Cane: Return to sitting
Use the right hand to place one crutch in the right axilla and the other on the left
-Standing with axillary crutch
