In general terms, what is an Amaro?
A neutral grape spirit that has been infused with herbs, roots, citrus, spices, and flowers. Sweetened to balance the bitterness.
Is an Amaro an aperitif or a digestif?
Both, depends on the final ABV. Super light amari like Aperol are best enjoyed as an apertif. Heavy higher ABV amari are better after dinner, such as Fernet and Averna.
