To feed Mrs. Pittman’s “children”, which are ducklings, and tell them that Mrs. Pittman is sorry that she has not been able to spend any time with them, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t love them. Mrs. Pittman also tells Sugar to watch for Bessie.

A girl has a rude and mean father who doesn’t want Shush, and begs for Sugar to take Shush so he isn’t sent to the pound. Taking pity on the young girl because Sugar knows what it’s like to have a horrible father, Sugar takes Shush from the girl.

A girl came running to Sugar crying in the parking lot. She explained to Sugar of how her father kicks the puppy around. She says that she knows her father is going to bring him to the pound. She gives the puppy to Sugar and asks her to take care of it and tells her to tell him that she always loved him.
Why do Sugar and Reba not go to Evie’s house?
Reba just wanted to get out of the shelter, so she judged that the number that Evie sent her months ago was still in signal. She told Sugar that she talked to Evie and that she is getting a cleaning job and that they are staying at Evie’s house. Once they arrive in Chicago, Reba still hasn’t called Evie to ask, and when she tries to call, there is no signal.
What is the purpose of the hospital Reba goes to?
It is a emotional hospital. They still do tests and give medicine, but specialize in emotion.
What does the medicine given to Reba make her feel?
The medicine makes her feel tired, though she doesn’t seem to sleep. When Sugar comes to visit her, she is sitting on a chair with her head to the window.
