What is the ALM?
In the ALM, language learning meant forming good habits. It was based on getting learners to repeat behaviors until they became fully learned habits.
What kind of activities were found in an audio-lingual class?
Drills, Dialogue, mimicry.
What did adherents of ALM believe about how 2nd languages are learned?
They believed language was learned by forming habits. Language = grammar + pronunciation + vocabulary.
What kind of syllabus was an ALM curriculum based on?
ALM is based on a structural syllabi. Before CLT, most language teaching syllabi were organized through a sequence of progressively more complex grammar features (i.e., structures-> the structural syllabus
