CAN
alteplase also known as?
what kind of drug?
what does it do?
tissue plasminogen activator (TPA)
thrombolytic
clot-specific. binds to fibrin surface of clot and promotes conversion of plasminogen –> plasmin
reteplase rPA
derivative of TPA.
thrombolytic
lyses thrombi. considered more effective than TPA with less risk of hemorrhage
urokinase
thromoblytic
may be used for peripheral arterial occlusion
tenecteplase TNK-tpa (TNKase)
thrombolytic
reduces mortality with acute myocardial infarction
‘clot buster’ can be administered in 5 seconds in 1 dose
aminocaproic acid
what kind of drug?
what does it do?
plasminogen inactivator
controls excessive bleeding from hyperfibrinolysis
Clopidogrel
Ther. Uses
MOA
Contra:
side effects
THERAPEUTIC USES: to prevent recurrence of MI, stroke; to prevent vascular death
MOA: inhibits platelet aggregation. Prevents ADP from binding with the ADP platelet receptor
CONTRA: intercranial hemorrhage, peptic ulcer, GI bleeding
SIDE EFFECTS: abdominal pain, flulike symptoms, dizziness, epistaxis, headaches, fatigue, chest pain, diarrhea.
ADVERSE REACTIONS: hypotension, bronchospasm
