all that i need to know Flashcards
Amplitude (amplitud):
height from the middle
Crest (vågtopp):
highest part
Trough (vågdal):
lowest part
Wavelength (våglängd):
distance between crests
Fast =
high frequency
Slow =
low frequency
Low frequency →
low pitch/dark pitch
High frequency →
high pitch/light pitch
how to caluclate frequence?
Count number of peaks
Divide by total time
High amplitude →
loud
Low amplitude →
quiet
Oscilloscopes
Purpose:
Make a graph of a wave
How it works:
Measures voltage
Sound Level Meter
Measure the loudness of sound
How it works:
Microphone converts sound into electricity
Frequency Counter
Purpose:
Measure frequency
How it works:
Counts number of waves over time
Microphone
Purpose:
Increase sound
How it works:
The diaphragm vibrates a coil and uses a magnet to make electricity
Records
Purpose:
Store and play music
How it works:
he needle presses on the record and makes vibrations
Noise Cancelling Headphones
Purpose:
Reduce sound
How it works:
Produces opposite sound waves to cancel noise
Constructive:
waves add together
Destructive:
waves cancel out
what are all the parts of the ear?
pinna,Outer ear,Ear canal,Middle ear,Eardrum,Ossicles, Eustachian Tube,Inner ear,cochlea, Vestibular nerve, Auditory nerve.
How sound travels through the ear
1.
Vibrations travel through the air.
2.
The pinna collects the vibrations.
3.
The vibration travel throat the ear canal to the eardrum
4.
The eardrum vibrates and causes the ossicles to vibrate.
5.
The ossicle cause fluid and hairs in the cochlea to vibrate
6.
The cochlea changes the vibration into nerve signals
7.
The vestibular and auditory nerves send information to the brain.
all the parts that makes up speak?
Larynx/voice box,Trachea/WIndpipe,Muscles,Glottis/slit and Vocal cords.
how do we speak?
Air is forced by the lungs through the slit between the vocal cords.
The vocal cords vibrate and produce sound.
The muscles opens or close the vocal cords to produce different sounds.
