What was the Feudal system?
- all land was owned by the king
- the king gave a portion land to the nobles as rewards
- the nobles would divide the land up between peasants
- peasants and serfs would work for the lord of the manor in exchanged for protection
- any land or property or title would be passed down to the eldest son
