Q

Name three uses of polymers:

A
  • Polyethene: is used for plastic bags and crates.
  • Polypropene: is plastic tubing.
  • Polychloroethene: is used in waterproof clothing.

Q

How are addition polymers formed from alkenes?

A

When catalysed and heated under pressure, unsaturated alkenes link together when half of the broken double bond opens to form a single C-C bond. The spare bonds from the Carbon double bond are used to join up the molecules.
