A
It occurs when the electronegative of the bonded atom are similar. When covalent bond is broken, each atom will take an electron to form free radical.

What is a free radical?
A
It is an atom or molecule having an unpaired electron. It is electron deficient and unstable because it is very energetic and has high tendency to pair up with another radical to complete its octet of electrons
