Q

Simultaneous equation steps:

A
  1. If signs are the same subtract, otherwise add them together. Objective is to get rid of one of the unknowns, so you may have to multiply/divide etc.
  2. Cancel down equation until you are left with the answer to one unknown.
  3. Substitute it into one of the original equations, solve it for the other unknown.
  4. Write answer as (x, y) where x and y are the answers.

Definitions and examples of following:
Expression
Identity
Equation
Formula
A
  1. Does not have an = sign e.g. 4m - n
  2. True for all values of that letter e.g. 4m = 5m - m
  3. Can be solved e.g. 5m = 2 + m
  4. Must have at lest 2 letters and an = sign e.g. n = 5m + 2
