Q
Simultaneous equation steps:
A
- If signs are the same subtract, otherwise add them together. Objective is to get rid of one of the unknowns, so you may have to multiply/divide etc.
- Cancel down equation until you are left with the answer to one unknown.
- Substitute it into one of the original equations, solve it for the other unknown.
- Write answer as (x, y) where x and y are the answers.

Q
Definitions and examples of following: Expression Identity Equation Formula
A
- Does not have an = sign e.g. 4m - n
- True for all values of that letter e.g. 4m = 5m - m
- Can be solved e.g. 5m = 2 + m
- Must have at lest 2 letters and an = sign e.g. n = 5m + 2
2
Q
Straight line graphs:
What does each letter mean?
y = mx + c
A
y = 2nd number in coordinate m = gradient x = 1st number in coordinate c = y intercept
3
Q
Working out gradient:
A
Difference in y / Difference in x = gradient
4
Q
Quadratic equation labelling:
Highest point on graph
Point/s that intercept x axis
A
- Turning point
2. Roots
5
Q
Cross multiplication:
a/b = c/d
A
ad = bc
