What are algae?
A
They are holophytic organisims that can be pigment or colourless. The spectrum of light they recieve determines pigment. They display low level differentiation and are non vascular. They are autotrophic and thalloid. Evolve oxygen.

They have cholorophyll and are autotrophic, they can be uni or multi cellular and colonial. They maybe parasitic or symbiotic.
They have a thalloid plant body.
They are aquatic, free living.
They have reserve food material, varying cell wall and varying vegitative structures.

A
Algae may be terrestrial, aquatic ot unusual.
