What was unique about his birth?
The British Island of Nevis in the West Indies
His parents were not allowed to remarry and have kids, therefore his birth was illegitamite

- Pay of all state debts
- Pay back all nations
- Pay back war bonds
- Create a national bank
- Charge national taxes
- Impose a protective tariff (tax on foreign imports)
- The south should be given the new capital, Washington D.C.
How did the paying back of war bonds work in Hamilton’s plan?
- People had bought war bonds for a cheap price
- They would get the full price to sell it back to the government
- Hamilton’s favored the interests of the industrial north over the south
How did the debate go on whether or not there should be a national bank? How was it resolved?
— Hamilton - Yes - the constitution allows congress to make laws even if they are not written specifically in the Constitution (elastic clause)
Jefferson - No - If the constitution does not say it you cannot do it (strict interpretation)
Washington - Sided with Hamilton and a national bank was created
What was the whiskey rebellion?
— Washington and congress - Taxed whiskey and “luxury items”.
Whiskey farmers hated it.
— Whiskey Rebellion - Congress lowered the taxes. The whiskey farmers tarred and feathered tax collectors. Washington then sent out 13,000 troops to stop the rebellion. It worked!

In a duel with Aaron Burr, his nemisis
He was shot and died the next day
