Kaitlyn’s mom always gives $5 more to Kaitlyn than to her brother Alex.

Answer 2

If we let x be the amount that Alex gets, then we know that x+5 is how much Kaitlyn will get.

x + 5 = y

x represents the amount of money Mom gives Alex
y represent the amount of money Mom gives Kaitlyn (Whatever Alex has, plus $5 more)
