What were the problems faced with developing the pipeline?
A
Permafrost was the main issue so they had to have special technique to cope with the frozen ground. The extreme cold made is difficult. The pipe couldn’t be buried because the oil would thaw the ground. The oil is between 65 to 85 degrees C. The pipe can get blocked with wax.

A
420 miles of the 800 mile long pipeline was elevated due to permafrost.
There were cleaning pigs that sweep the pipe of wax.

Tourist are allowed to go up and touch the pipeline in some areas
