Alarm Systems, Smoke Alarms Flashcards
What’s he difference between an alarm signal and a trouble signal ?
Trouble signal indicates and electrical fault within circuit, alarm signal sounds alarm
List a disadvantage of an ionization smoke detector
Over sensitive to humidity and cooking
What 2 wiring connections are required for smoke alarms in new installations?
Must be interconnected
Wired permanently into house
What are three types of zone loops in a residential alarm system?
Normally open
Normally closed
Monitored
What are the two categories of intrusion devices?

Intrusion devices
What is a perimeter device?
Used to sense an intruder while still on the outside of a home.

Alarm condition
Supervisory condition
What are the three components of a basic fire alarm system?
A fire alarm control unit to provide the logic processing system
A manual pull station
An audible signal device to alert all the occupants of a building that they must evacuate
What is a class b circuit?
One continuous path connecting all field devices together terminating with an end of line (EOL) device such as a resistor
A fire alarm system must consist of a minimum of 3 main parts….
CPU
Initiating device
Signalling device
