Side effects:
- Flushing
- Headache
- Nasal congestion
- GI side effects
- Blue vision ‘blue pill’
Contraindications
- With nitrates or nicorandil
- Hypotension
- Within 6 months of MI or stroke

- Urticaria

- MR calcium channel blockers
- AED
- Ciclosporin and tacrolimus
- Mesalazine
- Lithium
- Aminophylline and Theophylline
- Methylphenidate
- CFC-free formulations of beclometasone
- Dry powder inhaler devices
Diclofenac
- Contraindicated with any form of cardiovascular disease
Ecstasy (MDMA)
Features
- Agitation, anxiety, confusion, ataxia
- Tachycardia, hypertension
- Hyperthermia
- Hyponatraemia
- Rhabdo
Digoxin
Drugs increase risk of digoxin toxicity
- Diltiazem and verapamil
- Diuretics
Metformin
- Stop day of contrast scan and restarted 48 hours after
Ciprofloxacin
Ciprofloxacin lowers seizure threshold
Omeprazole
PPIs can cause low magnesium
PPI
Can cause low Mg
Amiodarone
Side effects
- Thyroid disease
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Corneal deposits
- Liver fibrosis/hepatitis
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Photosensitivity
- Slate grey appearance
- Thrombophlebitis at injection sites
- Bradycaedia
- Prolonged QTc
Drug interactions
- Increases digoxin levels
- Decreases metabolism of warfarin
Beta blockers
Reduce hypoglycaemic awareness
Chloramphenicol
Do not give to patients taking bone marrow suppression drugs eg methotrexate
Ciclosporin
Side effects - everything is increased - hypertension, hyperkalaemia, hypertrichosis, fluid overload, gingival hyperplasia, hyperglycaemia, hyperlipidaemia
Ciprofloaxacin
Tendonopathy - Achilles tendinitis
