Vmc Demo
Brief demo
1. Clear
2. Communicate
3. Visual, heading, altitude, airspeed, flaps, pumps on, gear up
4. power 50%
5. hold altitude and slow to 130kts
6. at 130kts - left engine slowly idle - right engine increase 92% - pitch to lose 1kts/sec (appx 7.5 degrees up) - first sign of loss of control or stall buffet - recover: reduce pitch and power - 5 degrees down - establish 85kts - 92% power - climb at 85 - “maneuver complete”
Recover
1. Scissor power back to 55%
Emergency Descent
- Clear
- Communicate
- Visual, heading, altitude, airspeed, flaps, pumps, gear
- Power idle
- gear down
- 30-40 degrees bank, 15-20 degrees nose down
Recovery - 10% of vertical speed, start recovery to preselected altitude or 90 degrees of heading change
- wings level
- nose horizon
- gear up
- power 55%
Engine out procedure on departure
- Airspeed, zero slip
- Gear and flaps up
- Power max
- Identify, verify - reduce throttle of dead engine
- Feather - Engine master off
Engine out procedure in crusie
- Airspeed, zero slip
- gears and flaps up
- power as required
- identify, verify
- troubleshoot
Troubleshooting rough/engine out
- Fuel pump - off
- crossfeed
- alternate air
- voter switch swap - check crct brkrs
- CAS messages - if “L or R ECU A/B FAIL” and perceived thrust is reduced yet load is unchanged - idle engine 1 sec, increase up to 1975rpm, and keep. If out before 1975, reduce again, and increase up to point of loss power.
If all unsuccessful - secure engine
Engine secure procedure
- alternator off
- fuel pump off
- fuel select off
Feather engine procedure
- power idle
- fuel pump off
- engine master off
Unfeather engine procedure
- Airspeed 90
- Alternator on
- Fuel pump off
- Engine master on
- once prop stationary - engage starter
Gear inop
- Attempt recycle 3 times - if unsuccessful
- Gear lights - test
- check voltage
- check crct brkrs
- gear down
- manual gear pull
- apply yaw
could take up to 20 seconds to extend
Gear up landing procedure
Just prior to landing
1. engine masters off
2. fuel pumps off
3. fuel selects off
after landing
4. electrical master off
