Airway Management and Acute Respiratory Failure Flashcards
1
Q
Name non-invase respiratory device (2)
A
CPAP
BiPAP
2
Q
How to predict a difficult intubation?
A
LEMON
* Look (trauma to oropharynx, morbid obesity, agitated aptient, short neck)
* Evaluate 3-3-2
* Mallampati (1 to 4, 3 and 4 = difficult)
* Obstruction/Obesity (stridor, inability to control secretions, muffled voice)
* Neck mobility
3
Q
Describe difference CPAP and BiPAP
A
- C-PAP provides a constant pressure regardless of whether the patient is
- inhaling or exhaling
- whereas BiPAP provides one pressure when the patient is exhaling and a different, higher presssure while they are inhaling
4
Q
Name paralytic agents for rapid intubation sequence (3)

- Ketamine (induction)
- Propofol (induction)
- Succinylcholine (paralytic)
- Rocuronium (paralytic)
