Airspeed Limitations (V-Speeds) Flashcards
VLE
represents maximum landing gear extended speed
VX
provides the greatest gain in altitude in the shortest distance during climb after takeoff
VX is the best angle ( ie short field take offs )
VY
would permit the pilot to gain the most altitude in a given period of time
VY is the best rate ( ie normal take offs )
VA
represents the maneuvering speed
Maneuvering Speed is:
an important airspeed limitation that is NOT color coded on airspeed indicators
In Severe Turbulence you should:
reduce the airplanes airspeed to maneuvering speed (or slightly below)
To maintain level flight attitude:
allow minor variations in airspeed and altitude
Flap operating range needs to be:
within the WHITE ARC
Power-off stalling speed with the wing flaps and landing gear in the landing position is identified by:
the lower limit of the white arc
VSO
defined as the stalling speed or minimum steady flight speed in the landing configuration
Maximum flaps extended speed is:
indicated by the UPPER LIMIT of the WHITE ARC
VFE
represents the maximum flap extended speed
Power-off stalling speed with flaps and landing gear in the RETRACTED position is identified by:
the LOWER limit of the GREEN ARC
Maximum structural cruising speed is indicated by:
the UPPER limit of the GREEN ARC
VNO
maximum structural cruising speed
