Equipment & communication requirements
Operable two-way radio capable of communicating with ATC on appropriate frequencies for that airspace. Operable radar beacon transponder w/ auto altitude reporting
Class C airspace
Equipment & communication requirements
Operable two-way radio capable of communicating with ATC on appropriate frequencies for that airspace. Operable radar beacon transponder w/ auto altitude reporting
Class D airspace
Equipment & communication requirements
Operable two-way radio capable of communicating with ATC on appropriate frequencies for that airspace.
Class A
18,000 feet above sea level up to and including 60,000
IFR equipped
Instrument rating
Class B
Surface to 10,000 feet (MSL)
ATC clearance required to enter
Two way radio, transponder with altitude reporting capability
Class C
Surface to 4,000 feet (MSL)
Must establish two way radio communication prior to entering & maintain while remaining in that airspace.
Two way radio, transponder with altitude reporting capability.
Class D
Surface to 2,500 feet (MSL)
Must establish two way radio communication with tower and maintain communication while remaining in that airspace.
Two way radio.
Class E
Controlled airspace Not A, B, C or D
Beginning at either 700 or 1200 (AGL)
Above 60,000 feet (AGL)
