Any area of land or water used or intended for landing or takeoff of aircraft. (Chapter 14. Page 14-1).

What are the types of airports?

Answer 2

Towered and nontowered. Further divided into:
1. Civil Airports - airports open to the general public.
2. Military/Federal Government airports - airports operated by the military, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), or other agencies of the Federal government.
3. Private Aiports - Airports designated for private or restricted use only, not open to the general public.
