Explain function of 3 positions of EMER LTS switch

A

OFF-Prevents emergency evacuation lights from illuminating. EMER LIGHT NOT ARMED message is on. Can be overridden and turned on at forward flt attendants panel.
ARM- Normal flt position. Emer evac lights are off. Connects battery pack charging circuits to EMERGENCY DC BUS. Emerg evac lights illuminate automatically with loss of EMER DC Bus.
ON-Simulates electrical power failure. All emer evac lights and EMER LIGHT NOT ARMED message illuminate.

Purpose of emergency lighting

-How long will they work?

A

Emergency lighting system provides minimal illumination of the flight deck, cabin and exit areas to facilitate the evacuation of the aircraft.
With EMER LTS in ARM emergency lights will automatically illuminate when power to EMER DC bus is lost.
Uses incandescent bulbs
rechargable battery packs will provide power for 15 minutes.

OAP will display an amber caution message and illuminate DOOR cue if any of the following doors is not closed and/or latched:

  • Access: ACCESS COMPT, ELECT COMPT, AFT STAIRWAY
  • Emergency: FWD CABIN, FWD GALLEY, AFT GALLEY, AFT CABIN, AFT STAIRWAY
  • Cargo: FORWARD CARGO, MID CARGO, AFT CARGO

Describe standby lighting available on Emergency Power

A

When EMER PWR switch is moved to ON with normal electrical power off and BATT switch ON, standby lighting will continue to be provided the Captain’s and FO’s instrument lighting panel

  • These lights receive powered from EMERGENCY DC BUS & DC TRANSFER BUS
  • All floodlights can be individually controlled by their respective knob
  • Immediate bright flooding can be obtained by moving THDRSTRM LT switch to ON.

  • With parking brake set, door open annunciations will not appear on display screen. DOOR cue light will flash 4 times when door is first opened and remain on w/out flashing as other doors are opened
  • Master Caution light will not illuminate for a DOOR cue

Flight crew oxygen system location and indications

A

Quick donning mask regulators located at each crew station. Oxygen is supplied from single cylinder located behind FO’s seat.
-Cylinder is equipped with a bottle pressure gauge and a shutoff valve that controls oxygen supply to the system. System line pressure is indicated on the aft overhead panel.

Describe function of the PASS OXY MASK switch

A

EJECT- (Momentary) Energizes circuit to release door latches and open all oxygen compartment doors at any altitude.
NORM- Door latches on all oxygen compartments will open automatically any time cabin altitude reaches approximately 14,000 feet
CAUTION-Holding EJECT position for in excess of 5 seconds may cause damage to oxygen compartment latches
