Aircraft Weight And Balance Flashcards
Maximum Ramp Weight?
Max Weight approved for ground operation.
Maximum Takeoff weight
Max weight for the start of the takeoff roll
Basic Empty Weight
Weight of Aircraft, optional or special equipment, fixed ballast, unusable fuel and full operating fluids required for normal operations.
Standard Empty Weight
Weight of an aircraft without optional equipment, obtained from aircraft manufacturer.
Payload
Weight of crew, passengers, cargo and baggage.
Useful Load
Difference between max takeoff weight and basic empty weight.
Usable Fuel
Fuel available for flight
Unusable Fuel
Fuel that cannot be safely (dependably) used during flight.
Zero Fuel Weight
Operational Weight of the aircraft including payload but excluding the fuel load.
Center of Gravity (CG)
The point along the aircraft’s longitudinal axis at which the aircraft’s weight is concentrated.
Center of Gravity Range
The limits within which an aircraft must balance for safe flight.
Datum
An imaginary vertical plane from which all horizontal measurements are taken.
Weighing Points
Specific points on an aircraft where scales or load cells are placed for weighing.
MAC
Average chord of a wing, or chord drawn through the center of the wing plan area.
TCDS
Manufacturer-Furnished document containing pertinent information for aircraft weighing such as CG Range and Maximum Weight.
