16
Q

What is a pack?

A

Small air compressors that take Bleed air from the engines, cool it, filter it, then deliver it to the flight deck, fwd and aft cabin for temperature control

17
Q

High pack flow automatic protection, for when a pack fails, is only provided when?

A

In flight with trailing edge flaps in the up position

18
Q

How does a pack work?

A

It regulates Bleed air intake.
Cools it in a heat exchanger, cooled by ram air.
An air cycle machine then compresses the air.
It then enters another heat exchanger.
Cool compressed air passes through water abstraction ducts.
Enters the mixed manifold which can be regulated there with warmer trim air to make it more comfortable.

19
Q

P =

A

F/A

20
Q

What is pressure at msl in psi?

A

14.7 psi

21
Q

When carrying out a cross-bleed start, the trust on the operating engine must be increased to obtain a duct pressure of what?

A

30 psi

22
Q

The PRSOV will close under what 4 conditions?

A
Starting engine (its PRSOV will close)
Fire switch pulled
Bleed air switch off
Bleed trip off (over-temp or over-pressure)
23
Q

When will the PRSOV close and BLEED TRIP-OFF light illuminate?

A

When an over-temperature 254 deg or over-pressure 220 psi is sensed.

24
Q

Recirculation fans are driven by…?

A

AC motors

25
Q

Equipment cooling fans are powered by…?

A

115 V AC

26
Q

The outflow valve is operated by 2…?

A

Cabin Pressure Controllers (CPCs)

27
Q

How much redundancy does the outflow valve have?

How many motors drive it?

How are the motors powered?

A

Triple redundant

3 DC motors

2 automatic by a CPC (DC BUS 1 and DC BUS 2)
1 manual from flight deck (BAT BUS)

28
Q

The outflow valve has a safety mechanism which forces it to close when the cabin altitude is above….?

A

14,500 ft

29
Q

When there is a loss of all sources of AC power, how do you control pressurisation?

A

Manually

30

A

Within 0.25 psi of selected FLT ALT

32
Q

What is the DIFF PRESS limit at a selected FLT ALT of <28,000 ft

A

7.45 psi

33
Q
