AIR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Flashcards
What does Air Management System consist of?
1) The Pneumatic System
2) The Environmental Control System
PACK 1/2 PB?
PUSH IN: allows automatic operation of AMS, opens the respective pack flow control valve
PUSH OUT: manually closes the respective pack flow control valve
CKPT CONTROLLER
PAX CABIN CONTROLLER
Controls cockpit temperature
Controls cabin temperature (ATTND — allows temperature to be regulated from FA panel)
RECIRC BUTTON
PUSH IN: automatic operation by the AMS, turns on both fans according to system logic
PUSH OUT: turns off both recirculation fans
XBLEED BUTTON
PUSH IN: allows automatic operation, opens the CROSSBLEED VALVE according to the system logic
PUSH OUT: manually closes the CROSSBLEED VALVE
BLEED 1/2/APU BUTTON
PUSH IN: automatic operation by AMS, opens respective ENGINE BLEED VALVES
PUSH OUT: manually closes respective ENGINE BLEED VALVES
Amber stripped bar on BLEED-buttons
Leak detected
DUMP BUTTON
Provides rapid depressurisation, opens outflow valve, stops packs&recirculation fans
When in MAN MODE outflow valve will not open
CABIN ALT CONTROLLER [DOWN-STOP-UP]
DOWN — closes outflow valve
STOP — normal position
UP — opens outflow valve
PRES MODE SELECTOR [MAN-AUTO-LFE CONTROL]
MAN — manual control of outflow valve
AUTO — automatic control of outflow valve
LFE CONTROL — airfield elev input + AUTO
LFE CONTROLLER [DOWN-STOP-UP]
DOWN — decreases the LFE in 100 ft
STOP — normal position
UP — increases the LFE in 100 ft
Works only if PRES MODE SELECTOR is in “LFE CTRL” position
Which information does EICAS AMS contain?
1) CABIN ALTITUDE (feet) (GREEN/AMBER/RED/AMBER DASHED)
2) CABIN RATE OF CHANGE (FPM) (GREEN/AMBER/AMBER DASHED)
3) DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE INDICATION (psi) (GREEN/AMBER/RED/AMBER DASHED)
4) LANDING FIELD ELEVATION (feet):
— GREEN — FMS
— CYAN with “M” — MANUAL
— AMBER DASHED
Sources of bleed air?
1) 1/2 ENGINE
2) APU
Bleed air consumers
1) Environmental Control System
2) Engine start
3) Engine/Wing anti-ice
4) Water pressurization
From what stages does the bleed air intake?
LOW PRESSURE — 6th
HIGH PRESSURE — 10th
What sources of bleed air can be used for anti-ice system operation IN FLIGHT?
Only ENGINE 1/2
Priority of bleed air sources usage
1) onside engine
2) opposite engine
3) apu
Air Conditioning Packs Valves should be closed if …?
1) Source is unavailable
2) Respective PACK button is OFF
3) Any engine is starting & ON GROUND
4) Respective engine is starting & NOT ON GROUND & opposite eng is not starting
5) Any engine is starting & APU is source
6) Respective system duct LEAK
7) Respective packs BIT shutdown failures are present (EICAS PACK 1/2 FAIL)
AMS CONTROLLER functions
1) engine bleed
2) APU bleed
3) ECS packs
4) recirculation bay smoke detection
Conditions for opening ENGINE BLEED VALVE
1) PUSHBUTTON BLEED 1/2 — AUTO
2) Bleed air is available
3) No fire
4) No leak
Conditions for opening APU BLEED VALVE
1) APU BLEED PUSHBUTTON — ON
2) APU bleed is available
3) No leak (APU+1!!!!)
4) 1 BLEED is UNavailable
5) Anti-ice not requested
OR
Anti-ice requested and failed
1(2) + APU — when APU will be prioritised
1) ON GROUND
2) GS < 50 kts
3) ALT < 15000 ft
4) Opposite engine bleed pressure is lower that minimal for start
5) APU bleed is available & WAI not requested
6) X-BLEED VALVE operating NORMALLY
What does Cabin Pressure Control System consist of?
1) Controller
2) OFV
3) Negative pressure relief valve (NPRV)
4) Positive pressure relief valve (Safety valve)
5) Static pressure port
Negative pressure relief valve — MIN dP?
-0.5 psi
Positive pressure relief valve — MAX dP
+8.6 psi
What parameters does CPCS use for modulating cabin pressure?
1) Landing Field Elevation
2) Cruise Altitude
3) Gross Weight
FMS DATA AVAILABLE: sources of information?
1) LFE — DSTN ARP ELEV DATABASE
2) CRUISE ALT — PERF INIT
3) GROSS WEIGHT — PERF INIT
