Air Law Flashcards
Which direction is a standard holding pattern?
Right
What is the standard circuit direction?
Left(the pilot sits on he left so it is easier to see)
Standard light signals?
Steady Green:
- On Ground: Authorised to take off.
- In Air: Authorised to land.
Flashing Green:
- On Ground: Authorised to Taxi.
- In Air: Return for Landing.
Solid Red:
- On Ground: Stop.
- In Air: Give way to other aircraft circling.
Flashing Red:
- On Ground: Taxi clear of landing area in use.
- In Air: Do not land - Aerodrome Unsafe.
Flashing White:
- On Ground: Return to starting point on aerodrome.
What is the maximum holding speed below 14,000ft(ICAO)
230Knts(280Knts in turbulence)
170Knts(Cat A and B aircraft)
What is the maximum holding speed between 14,000ft and 20,000ft(ICAO)
240Knts(280Knts in turbulence)
What is the maximum holding speed between 20,000ft and 34,000ft(ICAO)
265Knts(280Knts or M0.80 in turbulence)
What is the maximum holding speed above 34,000ft(ICAO)
M0.83
When does the standard holding pattern change from 1min to 1min 30sec?
14,000ft
Damp Runway
When runway is not dry, but moisture does not give a shiny appearance
Wet Runway
- Runway surface is covered with water
- less than specified for contaminated runway (3mm deep)
- Or when sufficient moisture to give shiny appearance
Contaminated Runway
When more than 25% of runway surface area within the required length is covered by:
- surface water more than 3mm deep, or slush or loose snow, equivalent to more than 3.. of water
- snow compressed into a solid mass which resists further compression
- Ice, including wet ice
