From earliest of:

-14 consec hours in 24 hours
-15 consec hours in 24 hours if:
–Flight crew members total flight duty hours in previous 30 days doesn’t exceed 70 hours
–or rest period b4 flight is at least 24 hours

When can an air operator not assign a flight duty period to a crew member?
If, before the beginning of the period, the member advises the air operator that they are fatigued to the extent that they are not fit for duty
Define minimum rest period
Flight crew member is free from all duties, and;
- not interrupted by air or private operator
- opportunity to get 8 hours of sleep uninterrupted in suitable accommodation
- has time for personal hygiene and meals
What is not considered part of flight duty time?
Time spent completing duties required by the company following flight duty time
How much time will the air operator provide for eating and drinking
15 min every 6 hours w/in flight duty period
Minimum rest period provided by air operator at home base

When can a private operator extend flight duty period up to three hours?
- PIC considers it safe to do so, after consulting crew
- extended because of unforeseen circumstances that occurred after start of flight duty period
- next minimum rest period extended by at least same amount
- PIC notifies private operator of circumstances and extension of duty period (priv op keeps notification for 5 years)
Commercial operator
If an unforeseen circumstance occurs w/in 60 min of start of flight duty period could lead to a level of fatigue. What may a pilot in command do, after consulting crew?

Flight crew that comprises more that the min required to operate the airplane and each flight crew member can leave assigned post are be replaced for in flight rest
