Air Assault Ops definition
Operation in which air assault forces, using fire power, mobility, and total integration of helicopter assets in their ground or air roles, maneuver on the battle field under the control of the ground or air maneuver commander to engage and destroy enemy forces or to seize and hold key terrain
Capabilities
Attack enemy from any direction
Delay a much larger force
Fly over or by pass barriers, obstacles or enemy positions
Conduct deep attacks and raids well beyond forward line of troops
Rapidly secure and defend key terrain
Limitations
Adverse weather PZ LZ availability Initial reliance on air re supply and lines of communication High fuel and ammo consumption Reduced ground mobility after insertion
Vulnerabilities
Attack by ground, air it artillery AttAck by A/C or air defense artillery during movement Attack by CBRN Electronic Warfare Small Arms fire

Ensures all personal know their tasks and positions on A:C
Ensures lights and panels on AC are emplaced
Assigns area of security to personnel
Supervises everyone on AC while in flight
Ensures safe, rapid off loading and security for AC
