Q

Earth’s early atmosphere

A

Intense volcanic activity (mostly CO2 little O2), some NH3, CH4 and noble gases.
Water vapour condensed to form oceans, CO” and carbonates produced sediments.

7
Q

What is the greenhouse effect?

A

Electromagnetic radiation from the sun pass through our atmosphere, Earth absorbes radiation and warms up, some heat is radiated as IR, Some IR radiation is absorbed by greenhouse gases in atmosphere, atmosphere warms up.

Q

Effects of atmospheric pollutants?

A

Carbon monoxide - toxic gas which is colourless and odourless so difficult to detect
