Air Ambulance Utiliztion Standard (W8) Flashcards
What should a request for on-scene ambulance response meet
-one bullet from operational criteria
AND
-one clinical criteria as mentions in the FTT std (or from the medical or obstetrical list)
What is covered under the operational criteria
->30 mins for land to reach pt, and will be faster for air
-LTH >30mins and air can reach and transport faster
-when pt requires care outside of land paramedics SOP
-there are too many pts for the paramedics on scene
If the pt meets the operational criteria, consider the clinical criteria
-pt meets the criteria under the FFT
-shock (HoTN w altered LOA)
-acute stoke w clearly determined symptoms onset under 6hr
-ARF/D
-suspected STEMI or potentially lethal dysrhythmia
-resuscitation from respiratory or cardiac arrest
-status epilepticus
-unstable AW or PAO
What are the obstetrical considerations
-active labour w abnormal presentation
-multiple gestation and active labour
-umbilical cord prolapse
-significant vaginal bleeding
What should you provide the ACO with so they can confirm the decision to call a helicopter
-estimated time to prepare the pt
-include time required for pt extrication
-estimated time for land ambulance to get to LTH
What should you do if the pt is ready for transport and the helicopter is not in sight
Start for the LTH, and either meet the heli on the way or a the hospital
