Air 3.0 Flashcards
1
Q
Steps taken to prevent corrosion and erosion in cooling systems
A
- Water flow control by pneumatic valve
- Fresh water used in cooling system
- Sacrificial anodes fitted in coolers
2
Q
Factors that affect efficiency of cooling systems
A
- Air filters - blocked or dirty air filters prevent air from entering the compressor therefore reducing the output
- Cooling arrangements - lack of cooling causes the cylinder walls to become hot. Air expands immediately on coming into contact preventing full discharge or air entering the chamber
3.Operation of cylinder valves - If the valves do not seat correctly , air will leak past and compression will be lost
- Leaks - Air leaking from relief valves , pipe connections or joints will result in reduced output capacity.
5.Worn piston rings or cylinder liners- wear or damage to the piston rings or cylinder liners resulting in a loss of compression therefore reducing compressor output
