AIMD Flashcards
What is the rating PR
Avation life support equipment
What does IMA mean
Intermediate maintenance activity
What is the concept of quality assurance
The prevention of the occurrence of defects
What is a QAR
Assigned to the QAR work enter
Works for QAO
TAD from division
Performs various functions associated with division
What is a CDQAR
Technician working in division
Able to preform the function of a QAR
CDQAR assigned when man power prevents the individual from leaving division to TAD
CDQAR is only valid for 90 days and must renew after
What is a CDI
Technician working in work enter
Authorized to inspect and sign valid documents in relation to work or repair
Works for the QAO while inspecting can not inspect own work
What is CTPL
Central technical publication library
Repository for all maintenance publication required for AIMD
What is FOD
Foreign object damage
What is tool control program
It prevents tools from becoming FOD
What is production control
The efficient attainment of objective
Purpose of daily inspection
Valid for 72 hours permitted no maintenance was done or aircraft was attempted to be flown
If flown only valid for24 hours
It’s and inspection for defects to a greater depths the the turnaround inspection
Purpose of a turnaround inspection
An inspection between flights to ensure the integrity of the aircraft for flight verify proper servicing and to detect degradation valid only for 24 hours and must be done after every fight
What is ALSS
Avation life support system
What is voltage
The force moves electrons through a conductor
What is current
The intensity of the flow of electrons through a conductor
What is resistance
The force that tends to reduce current flow through a conductor
What is JASU
Joint Avation screening unit
What is a spotting dolly
A spotting dolly is used on the aircraft carrier to maneuver air craft through and around aircraft spaces A/S32-35A
What is a special inspection
A scheduled inspection with a prescribed interval other than daily phase major engine or SDLM
Intervals are specified in the applicable PMS
E.g. Elapsed calendar time hours flown operating hours etc
What is a conditional inspection
An inspection conducted as a result of a specific over limit condition or as a result of circumstances or events that create an administrative requirement for one
E.g. Lightning strike over temp over weight one time inspections directed by higher authority
What is a phase inspection
A series of related inspection preformed sequentially at specific intervals
Dividing the maintenance requirements into small packages containing approximately the same workload
What is acceptance inspection
An inspection preformed at the time a reporting custodian accepts a newly reported aircraft
What is a transfer inspection
An inspection that is preformed at the time an aircraft is transferred from your command to a different activity
What s ASPA (aircraft service period adjustment) inspection
Each aircraft type has a specific life span after which it must be deleted from inventory
The ASPA inspection is conducted to determine if the airframe can be utilized for an additional 1000 flights
What is the aircraft log book
Historical record of all major maintenance inspection modifications and service life extensions completed on the aircraft
What is authorized to sign aircraft logbook entries
Anyone designated in writing by the commanding officer
What is a MRC
Maintenance requirement card
What is PMIC
Periodic maintenance information card
What is NALCOMIS
Naval aviation logistics command management information system
How many basic sections of a jet engine and what are they
Intake Compression Combustion Turbine Exhaust
What Is the purpose of an afterburner
Provides added thrust to the aircraft by adding fuel to the exhaust system
Describe the turbojet engine system
Used only in the EA-6B prowler uses the five basic engine steps
Discernible a turbo shaft engine system
Used exclusively in helicopters
The gas steam leaving the exhaust section spins a series of turbines (called free turbines) that are geared to the rotor through a series of gearboxes
Describe the turboprop engine system
The E-2C and C-2 aircraft use turboprop engine
Like the turbo shaft the gas steam spins a servers of turbines that in turn spin the propeller via a shaft
Describe the turbo fan engine system
The F/A -18 and F-14 examples that use it
Similar to turbojet the inlet duct is replaced with a fan enclosed with cowling this fan draws in more air then the compressed section of the turbojet and has lower fuel consumption ratio than the turbojet
