CHG
One of several names for Hospitalists (Carolina Hospitalists Group - they are specific to AH)
CHIPS
Our Peds hospitalists! Children’s Hospital Inpatient Service (aka Gen peds, peds hospitalists).
SHVI
Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute - AH’s cardiology and vascular services.
LCI
Levine Cancer Institute - AH’s hematology / oncology service
Secure Chat
secure messaging in Epic - aka haiku, rover, chitty chatty chat
Haiku
secure messaging in Epic - aka secure chat, rover, chitty chatty chat
Epic
EMR software that has a Transfer Center Module - it’s what PCL uses
Qgenda
Scheduling software used by several AH groups. It integrates into Epic’s on call finder
Oracom
Software system that MCA uses for transport (aka PCL Web)
CAD
Transport system software (MCA uses it). Stands for Computer Aided Dispatch
Code IA
EMERGENT request for patient having a particular kind of stroke that we may be able to intervene on
Code STEMI
EMERGENT request for ST Elevated Myocardial Infarction (type of heart attack that can be intervened on)
Code Rupture
EMERGENT request for a AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) that has ruptured or may rupture.
Emergent Cath
It’s the provider (cardiology or vascular) asking PCL to call in their tech team afterhours/weekends for a procedure.
Diversion
aka Redistribution - we are DIVERTING all EMS traffic away from a facility. There are typically exceptions if life threatening (STEMI, trauma, airway compromise). CHECK WITH YOUR LEAD
Closed to Transfers
may also be referred to as Diversion -but note it is NOT the same thing. This keeps PCL from sending to the floor at a particular facility - there is usually a list of exceptions including FSED to Parent. CHECK WITH YOUR LEAD
FSED
Free Standing Emergency Department. AH has several of these - each FSED is attached to a “parent” facility
Pineville has 2 FSEDs: What are they?
Providence and Steele Creek (FSEDs that belong to parent facility….)
CMC has 1 FSED: What is it?
SouthPark (we prefer patients transfer to Mercy if appropriate, but SouthPark belongs to CMC/LCH)
Union has 1 FSED: What is it?
Waxhaw! They may request Union West from Waxhaw, but they belong to Union
Cabarrus has 2 FSEDs: What are they?
Harrisburg and Kannapolis (FSEDs that belong to parent facility…)
University has 2 FSEDs: What are they?
Huntersville and Mountain Island! They may request Lincoln, but they belong to University
AH breaks into 4 “quadrants”. What quad does Cleveland fall into?
Western! Along with Lincoln and Kings Mtn
AH breaks into 4 “quadrants”. What quad does Stanly fall into?
Northern! They should refer to Cabarrus for higher levels of care (HLC)

Neuropedics
Spine neurosurgery! The term is being phased out but you’ll still hear it. These requests go to Neurosurgery (NOT peds, or Neurology)
Cisco
Finesse - it’s our phone program. We call it finesse or cisco

Online daily info sheet for Patient Logistics team. Your break/assignments/ad-min on call all listed here
Provider Database
Housed in Oracom / PCL Web. It’s a listing of almost all of our providers with their alternate contact numbers. Ask your lead how to access
Scotland
Part of Atrium - they just don’t use the Atrium name in front. Treat these requests like normal PCL calls (they are between us an the ocean).
Novant
Another Healthcare system in the Charlotte / NC area. Their transfer center number is located in Oracom/PCL Web database
4 AH facilities have general pediatrics: What are they?
AH Cleveland (gen peds), AH Cabarrus (gen peds, prog, some subspecialties), AH Union (gen peds) and LCH (PICU, prog, gen peds, most subspecialties)
Cabarrus has a Pediatrics unit - what’s it called?
Jeff Gordon’s Children’s Center (JGCH)
Who are we?!?!
Physician Connection Line! When combined with patient placement, we are Patient Logistics. When Patient Logistics and MCA are combined we are the AH Capacity Command Center (CCC)

MedCenter Air. Our transport team - fixed wing (plane), rotor (helicopter) and ground (ambulance)
