AGK Systems - Secondary Flight Controls Flashcards
What are secondary flight controls?
Do not affect pitch, roll or yaw.
Operated in a sequential manner, often on/off.
Limiting speeds, what do VF and VFE stand for?
VF - design flap speed
VFE - maximum flap extended speed
What is asymmetric protection?
Interrupts flap deployment, ensures the same angle.
What is a droop nose?
Moveable device that moves downwards to increase wing camber.
What is kruger flaps?
Hinges outwards to increase the leading edge radius.
What is leading flap?
Moves downwards from the leading edge to increase wing camber.
What is slats?
Flap that extends out and down from leading edge to create a slot through which air flows. The slat increases camber and reenergises the boundary layer over the main part of the wing.
During flight, how much of the speed brakes can you use?
50%
