What is the role of the magneto?
A
The magneto produces a spark mechanically (no battery required)

What is the role of the impulse coupling?
A
The impulse coupling engages on shutdown. It produces a strong spark with retarded timing to assist starting.

How do you switch off the magneto?
A
The magneto is switched off by earthing the primary coil

A
By an absence of a drop in RPM when the engine is switched from both to one magneto
