two years before TV the children were observed until 5 years after tv was introduced. found no differences in children’s behaviour. even found children’s pro-social behaviour had increased post TV.
Zimbardo
demonstrated role of deindividuation on aggression. participants required to give electric shocks to learner in order to aid learning. half wore bulky lab coats and hoods and the other half wore normal clothes and were introduced by name. there was no difference between the length of shock given.
Mann
analysed 21 incidents of suicides reported in american newspapers in the 1960s and 1970s found 10 of the 21 cases where a large crowd had gathered to watch what had occurred. Darkness, size of crowd and distance from the jumper was likely to produce a deindividuation effect on the crowd.
