Outline the agentic state
The agentic state if the notion that an individual believes that they are acting (acts they morally object) on behalf on an agent, in other words an authority figure and so feel little to no responsibility for their actions.
- they often feel discomfort as a result of their actions but feel as thought they are unable to resist the demands of the authority person
What is the Agentic shift?
The cognitive shift in viewpoint whereby an individual moves themselves from a position of seeing themsleves as responsible for their own actions and into an agentic state.
Autonomous state
A state in which an individual feel in control of, and feel responsiblefor their own actions and so feel a sense of accountability in them.
What is the purpose of the agentic state.
It enables society to function properly throught a working human hierarchal social systems.
- If people did to automatically yield to those of a higher status then society would be disorganised.
Why do people shift into the agentic state?
To maintain a positive self-image
