Has guidelines on hand hygiene, isolation precautions, environmental infection control, disinfection and sterilization.
DOT
Department of Transportation
Agency dedicated to ensuring a fast, safe and efficient transportation system.
FDA
Food and Drug Administration
a. Protects public health by making sure the product reaches a timely manner, and monitors products after they are used.
b. Some new drugs and complex medical devices have to be proven safe and effective before companies can sell them
c. Regulates all medical devices from manufacturers. Also, have to provide instruction on how to clean them.

International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material Management
ISO
International Standards Organization
Non-governmental organization with 156 countries. The standards are voluntary and have no legal enforcement authority.
JC (JCAHO)
Joint Commission (Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations)
Non-profit organization establishes accrediting standards and conducts extensive on site to evaluate a healthcare facilities performance in areas that affect patient care.
OSHA
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
For CS it regulates occupational exposure to airborne contaminants, exposure to blood borne pathogens and communication of workplace hazards.
NFPA
National Fire Protection Agency
Standards are commonly cited in state and local regulations for hazardous chemicals.
