-Mountain range that seperates the northwestern coast from the sahara desert -In the northwestern region of africa.
Atlas Mountain Range
-Runs all the way through the middle of africa horizontally. -Dry with extreme temperatures. -Largest desert in the world -Few people live here except for nomads and traders. -Has sand dunes, rocky hills, and camels
Sahara Desert
-South of the Sahara. -People cut down too many trees and overgraze so it starts turning into desert (desertification) -Has very little rain.
Sahel
-Close to the equator. -Vast area of grassland. -Has lions, elephants, tigers, and such animals. -Has very little rain. -Farming is great when rain comes. -Has a wet\dry season. -Middle of Africa. -Tropical climate.
Savanna
-Southern region of africa. -Surrounded by semi-arid areas that keep getting drier.
Kalahari Desert
-Along the central coast. -Hot and humid climates. -Dense forests with extremely tall trees. -Has many different types of animals and birds. -Population growth is a threat here. -Cutting down trees is also a threat here (deforestation).
Tropical Rainforest
-Longest river in the world. -Flows south to north. -Empties into the Mediterranean.
Nile River
-In west central region of Africa. -Also located in the Rainforest. -Begins at L. Tanganyika and ends in atlantic ocean.
