What happened in the English Reformation?

A

The English Reformation split the Church in England from the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope. The Protestant Church of England was established and the English monarch became its supreme head not the Pope.

The Victorian Age impact on religion

A
  • the age of Darwin and the question asked was of the relationship between religion and sciences
  • Mid Victorian prosperity also led to the progress of Christian socialism with the creation of the CSU (Christian Social Union).
  • England at that time was fundamentally religious. The connection between Canterbury and Rome was getting closer and closer. This was regarded with expectation by some and suspicion by most others.
