he created castles so the people would fear him.

the castles were located overlooking villages so they were constantly in fear.

yes it was but the castles were made of wood and they were made of wood for a while until he started making stone castles as the wood could burn and rot.

to show who was higher up in society.

he gained a large influence on the british as he could control the christians.

as the church was the strongest power prier to william if he controlled the church his power would grow higher.

he made it so they have to be marred to a norman to obtain land.

the women had very little choice.

it was a survey to see who could pay certain levels of tax.

he gained land and money as he knew who could afford to pay high tax.

yes as he gained control of 95% of the country in terms of land.
what was the use of terror and new laws?
he made laws that made Normans stronger like the murdrum- if a norman was killed near a anglo saxon village the village had to find the killer or face a heavy fine.
how did he gain power from use of terror and new laws?
the anglo saxons outnumbered the normans but the saxons had to pay an large fine that could destroy the village.
was the use of terror and new laws effective?
yes,less and less normans died to murder yearly due to terror.
