How many types of sentences are there in Spanish?
There are four types of sentences:
1- declarativa
2- interrogativa
3- exclamativa
4- IMPERATIVA
What is a declarative sentence?
These sentences are statements and are punctuated by a period at the end of the sentence. For example,
Pancho goes to school everyday.
What is an interrogative sentence?
These are questions and end with a question mark at the end of the sentence. For example,
Is Mrs. Salazar young?
What is an exclamatory sentence?
These sentences express strong emotions, excitement, surprise and have an exclamation mark at the end of the sentence. For example,
What a great weekend!
What is an imperative sentence?
These sentences make a polite request, a suggestion, demand, give orders, make a command and they end with period at the end of the sentence or sometimes, they end with an exclamation mark. For example,
Take out the trash.
Be quiet!
How do I use affirmative tú commands in Spanish?
Use affimative tú when you want to tell someone directly to do something. For example,
- Saca la basura.*
- Pon la mesa.*
How do I form the affirmative tú commands
with regular verbs?
If the verb ends in:
- ar drop the “r” > hablar > habla
- er drop the “r” > comer > come
- ir drop the infinitive -ir and add the “e”
escribir > escribe
